| Columbine is very tough. It is best to get as much dirt as you can around it. It also has a long tap root. I think this time of year you could bare root them and replant right away. Need to water good for couple weeks. Mike G |

| I have done it a few times. Mike is right. It's got a tough tap root and those who have been transplanted well for me had a significant rootball (packed in dirt) around them. I haven't had great luck bare root transplanting, but I didn't do it this early either. They're silly easy to grow from seeds, so I just broadcast and let them re-sow each year. |
