Hi drtluvr! Never grew tomatoes from seed. Daddy always grew Better Boys so thats what I had last year and they did wonderfully well. Good flavor, no disease. They are indeterminate, so you just about need telephone poles to stake them! I know where Booneville is. Lived in Evansville myself till a few months ago. Pretty little town. Has a nice quilt shop.

I usually grow around 60 Whoppers and 60 Beefy Boys plus some type of paste tomatoes. I get the seed from Park's. Janet

The sweet tangerine tomato at Burpee's is, to this day, the best tasting yellow tomato I've ever had. I grew them from seed. I shared a few plants with relatives and they all made a point of commenting on how tasty the tomatoes were. I have tried many other yellow varieties and nothing comes close. As for red tomatoes, I love the taste of Red Brandywine and Mortgage Lifter the best.
