I'm newish and impatient...give me some advice please

Hello. I've lived here for a year now but last year my garden was the disgrace of the neighborhood.....I don't know what I was thinking. Since we bought the house in winter I wanted to see what might already be in the garden..turned out it was gigantic weeds. So I'm new to gardening in Louisville. I've got the strongest urge to put all these plants in the ground and I know with the way the weekend is looking it would be a bad idea but I was curious when everyone around here normally starts putting stuff out. I'm also wondering if it would really be so wrong to go put out some seeds tonight....

Please join us for the plant swap at my house. It will either be the last weekend in May or the first weekend in June. This will be the 3rd year we are having this and there will be lots of plants to take home and everyone can give you some ideas. It is very laid back..... There is a thread already going on this. As far as your question.....IF you are planning on putting out annuals...then ususally after Derby. The soil needs to be warm. If you are thinking about perennials then it is fairly safe now.

Hi
welcome to Louisville!

I am planning to attend the swap- I have tons of plants to share- do you have full sun/shade/both?

when you get a chance, go to 'winter sowing' here on GW
read the FAQ
it works, it really does!

email me if you think you can come to the swap or need advice about winter sowing- which you can still do now if you want

best wishes and happy gardening!
