Peach/pear/plum ? tree advice - newbie

Hello - my first post. I think I am in the right region. We are moving from southern California to southern Indiana (Sellersburg) this month. I have so much to learn. I am so excited.
Not only will we be starting a vegetable garden, but my husband would like to have a few fruit trees in our sunny back yard, especially peach. I would appreciate all advice and leads on information about growing peach trees (or fruit trees in general) in this area.

Depending on how much time & effort your husband is willing to put into fruit trees, my own recommendations are to plant pears - Asians or Europeans. They're relatively low-care; beyond a minor amount of pruning/training, they require almost nothing else - I've never sprayed my pears, and they reward me with virtually perfect fruits every year.
Apples & stonefruits(peaches/plums, etc.) are a very different situation. Insect & disease problems are rampant, and require frequent spraying, if you want to end up with any decent fruits - and the regular late spring frosts frequently nuke the blossoms/young fruit on most of the stonefruits - if you get a decent crop of peaches/plums one or two years out of five, you've done well.
You might also want to consider some persimmons - IN is the persimmon capitol of the world, you know. Another care-free, no-spray fruit.
