Kudos for the Columbus Swap!!!!

Mimi, Storygardner, and Bakemom (and others I am sure I don't know about) deserve a HUGE round of applause for all the hard work they did organizing and pulling off the swap yesterday. Also, all of the people who spent a lot of time potting up and bringing their plants also need some thanks. I was able to bring a healthy amount of stuff and was able to bring some wonderful things back to help my new gardens here in the great clayed plains....

I was a swap virgin, and was confused as to how this would work....until I got there and saw great planning in motion....next time I will post myself next to a desired plant...but I figured it didn't matter much anyway as I was even happy with Black eyed susans, shasta daisies, spiderwort...and other very common things. Thanks also to granny, mimi and Storygardener who shared some of their lovlies for my new garden.

And no, Leigh Ann...I REALLY don't want any yarrow....unless it is a well behaved yarrow.

Who brought the "sunflower" and what in heavens name is it?

Now this afternoon I have to figure out what's what and what might be ummm....exhuberant in its growth habits.....

Yes, Yes -- a BIG thanks to Mimi, Beverly/StoryGardener and everyone else who made the swap happen. Wonderful job!

What a beautiful day Mother Nature gave us for our event. It was my first swap and everyone was so kind (and lunch was delish!)

My new plants are in the ground already. I will look forward to next year! Thank you!

Thanks for all the hard work bev & mimi
i made my 1st stop at baker's acres on the way home.
it was expensive but worth the detour and i only spent 2 hrs there. I was nice to find things that i just can't find at home. what fun. I'll have to make this a part of my annual trip.

Michigoose..it was great to meet you. I enjoyed visiting after the swap, too.

Glad you all had a good time at the swap! Me too!

Today I am planting up my decorative pots of annuals...so many of them are from the swap. I just love it.

Digger...isn't Baker's fabulous!! Chris Baker is so nice to offer a gift certificate to the swap the past couple of years.

I didn't do anything except participate in the swap - this is Beverly and Mimi's baby and I will join you in thanking them for a job well done.

I think the sunflower you are referring to is helianthus maximillian. I was delighted to see two of them there and did my best to "sell" them. It's a perennial branching sunflower that's native in hoards in the central plains, among other places. There you will find them in the roadside in the fall loaded with blooms. I have one in my garden that has divided this year and I can't wait to see the blooms. I have heard that it is not agressive and makes a good bedding plant. It was great for me last year, so we'll see how things this year.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet. I was pretty beat after the Race for the Cure.
