 o
site for European Hornbeam

I got a free landscape design from a friend of a friend in the biz. He placed a European Hornbeam approx 5' away from two walls of my house on my side yard in a "L" shaped corner. I'm not too familiar w all the plants he chose so I did some research that said a EH can get 40' tall. This sounds too big for my corner site, but my FOF is a professional. I'm guessing I can prune to maintain a smaller tree? Maybe its slow growing? Will this work? I'm in Cinti, thanks for any help.

RE: site for European Hornbeam

I believe the designer expects you to maintain it to your desired height, shape etc. Please read the article in the link below. If I didnt do the link correctly then here is the address for you to copy and paste.

If you dont feel inclined to do this sort of maintenance etc then by all means choose another tree. Any plant material in any design is always interchangeable with several alternatives. There are many beautiful small ornamental trees readily available at most nurseries.

If you want to discuss any specific alternates then feel free to email me directly.

Thanks Sue for the insight. I probably will use the Hornbeam and keep it maintained to a resonable size for my site.
