Is verbena a perennial?

I went to Lowes and HD today. Just had to buy something new to plant. I thought I had read that verbena was a perennial but Lowes had it as an annual for $4.00 so I passed. At HD they had some perennials for 3 for $9.99, good size plants for that price. So I got 2 Shasta Daisies and one Verbena. Will my verbena come back next year? Thanks for your help :o)

I think most that you find at garden centers should be considered annuals unless you live further south. I checked the MOBOT site & the ones they listed as perennial weren't the bright flowered ones I'm used to seeing.

V. bonariensis is somewhat perennial for me, but I think this years late prolonged freeze might have killed it. The good news is that this variety re-seeds like crazy for me, so I am not without. That's the story in Columbus, Ohio anyhow.
