I went by the Spring Hill Nursery garden store today; they had a ton of oriental/asiatic/orienpet lilies in quart pots for fifty cents each!! Yellows, pink, peach, wine, red, and orange. The asiatics are about done blooming but most of the orienpets had fat buds --most not labeled though so you won't know what you are getting til the buds open.
Tall garden phlox in quart pots were a dollar. The few remaining bare root plants were marked down further too--50 cents instead of a dollar. There were still some coneflower, double daylilies (night embers, youangelyou, others), echinops ritro, asters. Big bags of their "glamini" gladioli were $4.99.
Lots of "grab bag" potted daylilies and butterfly bush for $1 too.
I've had only fair luck with the clearance bareroots over the years, but the potted items have done well.
They said that they would be having their "big" sale over father's day weekend. I don't think they did this last year - I will have to go check it out. Not that I really need anything! |

| Time for this post to move on down the line! I did go back and they had an amazing amount and variety of plants for $0.99, plus some larger potted items for great prices as well. I got more blueberries, and several other plants that had been on my wish list--toad lily, japanese painted fern, clematis, coneflowers, hydrangea. They had healthy looking potted fruit trees, but unfortunately the dwarf variety that I had seen last time and decided that I wanted was all gone. |
