Daylilies are starting!

| Bloom season has finally started here in Central KY. My daughter is the picture queen in the family and I'm starting to drag her out early on the mornings that she doesn't have to work to try to get more bloom pictures. I need to see about getting a photobucket account instead of the yahoo pictures so I can post a few.
Currently we have bloom on probably 200 cultivars with more popping out each day. If it weren't for the soaker hoses though I suspect the buds would be dropping like flies due to our lack of water. It's getting worse every day.
What do the rest of you have blooming?

Hi Janet, I'm in the western part of the state - about an hour south of Evansville, IN. My DL's have been blooming for about 2 weeks. I just started a few years ago, so I don't have many yet - but I have plenty of room. Send me an email with your address if you ever have open houses/sales. My favorite so far - 'Russian Rhapsody' Happy Gardening, Penny |

Janet- that sounds great! DL are fast becoming one of my favorites. I traded this past fall, and got 4 nice 'new to me' DL- One, Strawberry Candy, has had 3 blooms on it- so pretty! Oh yes, we need rain so bad! I have several others blooming- most unnamed- but I luv'em anyway... Don't have much room in my city cottage garden-but, I keep trying. My rudbeckias are starting now too- but, all my little volunteer seedlings- celosia, balsam, amaranth, camomile, are so small- I know they need a good 'dose' of Ky Rain.. I want to get up to see you... and the DL :)) Maybe next weekend- I will e you later in the week.. thanks, Linda in Louisville |

| Like Penny, my daylilies started blooming several weeks ago and I think they...and my whole garden...peaked last Saturday. The daylilies are tapering off now, but still pretty and I have a couple yet to bloom. Don't know the names of any of them. Some are deep, deep red, some are yellow and some are a lovely melon color with a greenish yellow throat. Our local daylily society is having a sale this weekend. Oh, and thank goodness we got about half an inch of rain yesterday and last night! |
