WANTED: White Pine Needles in Warren County

I know its a bit early but....Does anybody have or know a neighbor that is willing to part with some white pine needles this fall in the Warren County area near Cincinnati? - I'm in Maineville/Morrow. I use them to protect my banana plants over winter. I am more than willing to rake them up...Whenever they fall - sometime in late Sept/October...Hopefully before the first frost. I'll post this again in a couple months.

Here is a link that might be useful: banana cages

How much are you looking for? Does it need to be specifically white pine or would any species work?

I'll take anything I can get. Any long-needle pine - white, austrian, french, etc...Spruce probably wouldn't work for what I'm doing. Thx for the response!

I'm in North georgia where "pine straw" is very commonly used as mulch. It is sold at practically any big box megastore where they sell it out of semi trailers in the parking lot for around $3.50 a bale. It's actually harvested in Florida from longleaf pines and also slash pines, strangely however pinestraw is not sold in florida for some strange reason. They screen it for most cones and trigs then They haul it 6 or more hours to the north and sell it here.

Speaking of hauling stuff to the north, I'm heading up to OH very soon. Not sure where you are but I need some help sourcing some trees I can't get here. London planes in containers. If you can help me find the trees (see my other post) I'll gladly reward you with pinestraw. Click my page to email me. and see my other topic posted in this forum. If not I suppose I can ship you some but that would be pretty expensive of course. What I used to do when I was in Florida was I would go rake it up under the pines and bring it home and put it in a pile. Click my page to email me if interested but don't delay because I'm departing soon and space on the pinestraw wagon is disappearing.

Hey, I didn't realize your were in Georgia... I have pines on my property, but only a few mature ones, I planted hundreds of pines in 2001. I'll have plenty in a few more years. Meanwhile, I'm sure I can round some up close to me. Its just a matter of asking/finding - this forum isn'r very active... Btw, Pine straw bales are about $8 in Cincinnati, regular straw/hay is 3.50...I raked 10 garbage bags last year in my yard. I imagine I'll get less this year with the drought...Thx anyway

Well I have never really seen pinestraw used as mulch outside of GA and SC. I did manage to find my trees though but send me a message if you ever need any more and tried everything else.
