First tomato today!

Last fall I had a volunteer Tiny Tim (cherry) tomato that I decided to take pity on. It was about 3" tall when I pulled it and planted it in a 16oz plastic cup and sat it on the kitchen window sill. It got only a few hours of sunlight a day. I gave it a drink of half strength Peters in about Feb when it was about 6" tall. By the end of March it had reached about 12" of its 18" height. I transplanted it into a 3 gallon pot with some 10-10-10 and fresh soil and put it outside in early April. It came back in on the cold nights and although there were a few sunburned leaves it bushed out nicely by mid May.

Today we had our first tomato and there are two more that will be ripe in the next day or two. There are about 10 or 12 other smaller tomatoes on there and many blossoms. I wondered what the flavor would be after such a long hard start but it was very good.

Think I'll try this again this fall.
