New to Louisville Area - Tree Question

Hi - we moved to Prospect, KY 10 months ago. Our back yard gets southern exposure - we have one large pear tree that is on one side of our 1/4 acre lot (no fences allowed in our subdivision and our wide but shallow yard opens to a large common meadow type area that gives us the appearance of a large yard without the upkeep).

We have planted a willow tree and a couple of Japanese Maples, but we really need substantial shade in this very sunny yard - the back of our house is blasted by heat and sun in the afternoon.

We want trees that will stand up to ice and wind storms (our large pear tree lost no branches during the ice storm) that will eventually give our house the shade we so badly need.

We will be living in this house for at least 10-12 years. We understand that it will take years to get shade relief. We would like to plant at least two more trees in the fall - any suggestions?
