Not near you, but the idea of foraging for native or abandoned fruits is interesting. Takes me back to my interest in pioneer life (and food) that I had as a child.

There is a metro park near my home that is the remnant of an old farm, and I have noticed apple and pear trees neglected, but still bearing fruit. I see paw-paw trees often in local woods, but have never seen any fruit.

Sure, lots of abandoned fruit trees plus wild foods.

...foraging is for those that love to reap what they have not sown. What others planted and abandoned - I make good use of.

Get yourself a harvester and go to town...I got 14 pounds of apricots off one abandoned tree.
