I just planted some lavender im my garden about 2 weeks ago and it is already brown (dead?) I also have smaller plants of lavender and they also are not doing well. I planted lavender before in my previous home and had no problens with it. What is wrong and why is my lavender not doing well.

Maybe it's a victim of the hot dry weather.Have you been watering it deeply and frequently? It's also possible you overwatered, but that's kind of unlikely.

Is it possible that it's not in a place where it gets good enough drainage? I have always heard that lavender does not like to have its feet wet... I have sandy soil now, so I plant it wherever I want. I had clay soil at the old house, though, so I only put lavender in raised beds there. Just a thought...

RE: Lavender problems

After years and years and years of trying to grow lavender I think I have it down. I grow it right next to my blacktop driveway in a slightly raised bed. It gets direct sun and plenty of reflected heat. THAT BEING SAID, the darn thing still likes to be coddled when first planted. Seems counter intuitive, but I have grown four HUGE plants that way. Just keeping them well watered at first and then HANDS OFF.

Give it a shot if you wish. You are not alone in lavender frustration.

I PLANTED MY LAVENDER IN A POT THIS YEAR AND IT SEEMS TO BE DOING QUITE WELL. THE ONLY QUESTION I HAVE IS IF I WILL NEED TO MOVE IT IN SIDE SINCE IT IS NOT IN THE GROUND???
ANYONE PLANTED ONE IN A POT? THANKS...KAREN

RE: Lavender problems

This may sound like a dumb question, but is lavender a annual? If so , that explains why mine didn't come back up this yr. LOL
