My Black-eyed Susan vine is blind!

Among the many oddities and abberations in my garden this summer has been the Black-eyed Susan vine, Thunbergia alata. One is completely normal, a lovely little vine.

But the other four lack the little black "eye".

Do you think they'll produce seeds?

They probably will produce seeds, but they may not be true to the parent....they may revert to the standard dark eye. It would be interesting to play around with!

Alison...I got some of those seedlings from you at the spring swap. Mine are a mixture is black-eyed and blind, too!!! I love them. I was planning to harvest the seeds this fall and try some winter-sowing with them. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Mine too. :) Last year the one I had bloomed three different colors. Expected this one to be the same but no luck. Love it anyway. Sherri
