plant swap in cols... daylilies?

I hope it's ok to ask these general swap questions here. I thought about posting on the swap page, but it doesn't get much action.

I'm interested in the swap, and have emailed the person in "charge" but wanted to ask everyone in general...

I have a lot of choice daylilies I can divide and bring, but not many other types of plants. Are many of you interested in dayliles? These would be "collector" type plants... many I paid $100-$200 for in the last 5-10 years. I assume they would all need to be named varieties. I ask, because I have some choice seedlings of Benz, Hanson, Applegate & Warrell (all Ohio hybridizers) that could be divided. Some of you who grow a lot of daylilies may be interested in some of those- as they are not generally available.

About how many divisions should I plan on bringing? I am interested in all types of perennials to bring back home - my beds need some variety for when the daylilies are not blooming!

Hi Daylily fan..

Generally Spike (the man that runs the Gardenweb Forums) wants swap talk on the Get-togethers page or exchange page. But, I guess we can talk swap here...until he moves the thread to the exchange page.

In the past folks have brought named and unnamed daylilies. There are no rules that they have to be named. Most folks like the named ones. But, at least it's good to have the color if you don't know the name. People bring a pot with usually 2 fans of a daylily. Whatever they think is a fair trade.

Everything's equal in a plant swap...a seedling is equal to a shrub. A trade is a trade.

Usually, people bring all kinds of plants to the swap - perennials, bulbs, trees, shrubs. It's whatever they have extra of. Variety depends on the number of folks attending and what they bring. The fall swap, in general, doesn't always have quite as many folks as the spring swap. But, it's still loads of fun!

Maybe folks will email you privately and you can do some pre-swap trading with folks that are attending.

I did go find the swap forum, and it did have a few posts from the last week or so... so I did go and ask my questions there after all.

I'm an old timer at That Home Site, and Garden Web, but not to swaps.

So... Sorry I asked in the wrong spot Spike....

If anyone else wants to respond, please do so on the swap page, so I don't get sent to Disney Land! (I don't *think* I'd get sent there....hmmm.... but you never know!)

rofl...I don't think that Josh...(the new Spike) cares much about this forum....and I doubt anyone will be sent to Disneyland anymore.....but I'm not tempting fate...

Spike is gone?? When did that happen? I knew Spike sold the Gardenweb forums - but, I thought he was staying on to "run" the forums. Spike created a WONDERFUL place in cyber space.

When did Josh come on board? Good luck to Josh.
