I bought a new house this summer, and am finally getting around to being able to work on the existing plants that are here. I need a lot of help, as I have no experience with this at all.

There are a lot of barberry bushes that have gone crazy. I have been looking and everything said to prune them after the bloom... BUT they need it bad. What happens if I cut them back now?

I have a small hill in the front that will be beautiful with creeping phlox growing on it (plus they are my favorite!) When do I plant these?
