Victorian foundation planting help in Pittsburgh

Posted by victorian_pa (My Page) on

We've just removed a bunch of yews around our red brick house and are trying to decide what to replace them with. We bought a weeping pussy willow for the left hand far corner of the bed, and we have front porch stairs off to the right. Would like year round interest, but that's our problem. Husband doesn't like boxwood or holly, I'm not crazy about junipers. Have agreed on Heavenly bamboo, but not sure what to plant with it, or if it goes with a victorian house. Plant tag says 8' tall, does it get that big?(bed is 20' long by 8' wide). New to forum, any help appreciated.
