After 2 years in the ground my red yuccas have finally begun to bloom. Too bad the deer had to nibble off about 1/4 of the flower stalk. Hopefully some cayenne pepper will keep them at bay.
Are red yuccas supposed to bloom in September/October? Or do they normally bloom during the early summer with the other yuccas?

| I just planted one of these last fall, though I was told they were NOT hardy, but it did very well through the winter, without any burn. I'm glad to see your's bloomed... no bloom here this year... |

Maybe they take a few years to bloom. I have no idea. Both of them were rather small when planted about, but have tripled in size, roughly. I did find out that it is not uncommon for it to flower in the fall as well. |
