WANTED: seedlings for community garden

The OK Sustainability Network has a community garden at the Village Library in OKC supported by the local sustainibility group. The garden was built in cooperation with the Regional Food Bank. We are planning an event for the weeknd of Nov. 4/5. The idea is to allow kids to plant winter hardy seedlings in the larger bed. Part of the event will be to build cold frames for the bed. We would also like to let the kids bring a small recycled container (milk jug or 2L bottle with the top cut off) and plant some lettuce/spinach in the container to take home.

Would anyone in the OKC area be interested in growing a flat of seeds to donate for the event? Things like spinach, lettuce, kale, swiss chard, collard greens, broccolli, and cauliflower?

This is the first event in the garden and we would really like to get the community involved. The garden is intended to be part of the Regional Food Banks Urban Harvest program. Food from the larger bed is donated to the food bank to allow recipients to have some fresh food and not just canned or frozen. There are smaller beds for adoption by individuals or groups. The food from these beds may be used by the individual or donated to the food bank.

Next spring we will have a bigger event, but would like to use this one to get the word out that we are here. If anyone is interested in helping in other ways, just let me know!
