Now don't get mad at me, and please take these comments with the understanding that I like to garden as organically as possible (and I realize everyone does not prefer organic gardening as I do)....but doesn't it bother you to start seeds in a product containing formaldehyde? I wouldn't use it for that reason, but I can understand why it would seem like an attractive option.

In a few days, I will be 74 years old, not as spry as I once was but still in relatively good health though rather cynical of all the voices, theys and thems and this study and that one that scream about health issues. There is no way we can live in our culture and avoid everything that "research" claims is bad for our health, something(?) is going to get us one of these days. So I try to live my life in a relatively reasonable manner without too much paranoia. Which includes absolutely no animosity toward you for your thoughts.
I will probably continue to take my chances with the small amount of chemicals that might be ingested into a plant from a cubic inch of Oasis.
You did spur me to do a little research and I find that I have worked with many products that included formaldehyde in their make up beginning as a child tagging along with dad in the oil field.
