Has anyone grown this fern in Oklahoma? Does anyone know where I can get one? I am searching for ferns that like dry alkaline conditions and this seems like a good one as it grows in boulders in the Sonoran desert and is hardy to zone 6a. Any other suggestions for tough ferns like this?

Thank you. I also like this one: www.bbg.org that is for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and has a list of ferns sorted by their preferred environment. This is where I first was alerted to Pentagramma triangularis as it is on their list for ferns that like dry conditions. I have tried a Japanese painted fern here in Oklahoma and it was not at all happy even though I watered it a lot. I think it prefers acid soil and we don't have that here. I was able to grow them just fine in Maryland. I contacted Renrick nursery in Chickasha to see if they could grow any of the ferns on the dry conditions list and they are willing to try Osmunda claytoniana (Interrupted fern) but can't do it until next year. So I might get one of those mail order and see if I can keep it alive without excessive care. Also Plant Delights nursery in North Carolina carries a fern they call Austin City Limits that supposedly originated in some ditch outside Austin that is probably worth a try. Just for the name alone. Keep me posted if you have any luck growing ferns. Annbb
