Those are pretty good beans. I have friends who will grow nothing else. But, as a general rule, pole beans will produce more, over a longer period of time than will bush beans. With some exceptions, of course, I find that the pods on the pole beans tend to be larger, making it easier to get a meal's worth in a short picking time.

Aside from that, the main difference is that one can do most of the picking while standing up. I LIKE THAT!

But as has been mentioned before bush beans produce earlier. Many pole beans take longer to produce and tend to shut down in very hot summers. If they can be kept alive over the summer, they can produce heavy in the fall. We think the pole beans are tastier than bush. Before the Japanese Beetles arrived, I always grew either Kentucky Wonder or Missouri Wonder, but the JBs love them and can do a lot of damage, so have switched to other varieties. We like Romano pole beans best. And George shared Cherokee Stripe which we like but it really doesn't like heat. Top Crop and Contender are two of our favorite bush types. We also like a yellow one but right now I don't remember the name. Romano types also come in bush.

I normally plant both, but I only plant bush beans one time each year because they will produce early before the pole beans are producing. I usually pick them for 3-4 weeks then yank them out and depend on the pole beans for the rest of the growing season. There are so many good pole beans, and like George said, you can stand up and pick. It takes less garden space to grow vertical, and they produce so much longer than bush beans.
