Yeah, Larry. It's huge. Overwhelming if I think of it too much. But I'll mostly have fodder crops and cover crops on it. That way the clay soil will be ready as I expand.

Hey bon - do you have a way to shop at SAMS? A few years back we got soaker hoses there (25 ft each, 2 pack - appr. $25). I also thought of a combo system set up with PVC flowing water to maybe a couple of those "rain-maker" sprinklers. You could save the soaker hose section for those plants that don't like their leaves wet.

Also, I'm not sure how far you live out, but have you thought of haunting the estate sales on the 2nd and ESPECIALLY third day? We just scored t-posts for $1 each at one last Sunday. Got all 11. We were originally headed out to mattress shop when the sign jumped in front of the truck! I'm going to start watching for more of those. If ya think outside the box as our friend, Ilene, has taught me - you can score some good finds.

Those are some great ideas, I hadn't thought ! We're not alone in poverty here. Yard and estate sales are frequent.

That Sam's price is no bargain. WM has been having 50 ft soakers for about $10-12. Which I thought was too high when I first saw it because I paid 7 for the first few I got.
