We picked up some 50 gal. rain barrels at Atwoods for $40 each. They have a spigot but no filter or fittings for attaching to other barrels. For the price, I'll modify them.

Sometimes Sam's has 65 gallon rain barrels for about $80. They have a spigot and filter. I have one and I love it.

Hi Shallot: We have a rainwater harvesting system that provides all the water in our house. To store rainwater, we started with four 550 gallon storage tanks purchased from our farm coop (Southern States) for about $400 each. One tank would probably be sufficient for your use. Your farm coop will have different sizes - we bought big tanks because this is our sole source of water. You can probably find 100-200 gallon tanks for a fraction of the cost.

Questions you need to answer: Who/what is your farm coop? (name) Does your coop sell storage tanks in different sizes. Ideally, you want a large inexpensive tank.

More questions: How will you fill the tank? (we fill ours from downspouts from the roof of the house). How will you move the water from the storage tank to your garden (probably sump pump).

You are on the right track. I love our rainwater harvesting system! Rainwater is good for everything, from your vegetables to your hair and skin.

We're in Tahlequah, which is a bit far from Norman, but there is a local supply place (not sure I would even call it a store...it's someone's house and they have all kinds of misc. items) that carries food grade 50ish gallon barrels for about $10-15. We use them for animal feed and will be turning one into a rotatable compost bin and a rainwater catchment system is on our list. I know they have a supplier for their barrels...probably in Tulsa or OKC so you may be able to contact them to find out. Message me if you want more info!
