I don't have a scientific answer for you, but can tell you that we got some garden ready from minick and our vegetables did very well last year (I did add lots of organic matter when we were filling the beds).

I have used Minick Garden Ready in two different houses for veggie beds and have been very happy with it. Haven't heard of Murphy's, sorry.

I've used Minick for several years and purchased both their garden mix and rich mix with good results. My choice was heavily influenced by their location being literally down the street from me.

I purchased the "rich mix" from Murphy's a couple of years ago...it was not what I expected, or really what I wanted. It would best be described as a very sandy and silty top soil mix.
What I should have asked for was their compost mix - I would recommend going to either place and actually looking at and feeling the soil(s) you're interested in. I was in a time-crunch (had help coming) and ordered over the phone :( Lesson learned!
