We found this film a few years ago and have been practicing his technique of no till and only adding mulch. We had great success last year and anticipate the same this year. I often watch that every couple of months just to be reminded of what he is doing/saying. You can find some video interviews of Paul on youtube and get some more insight into him and his practices.

I am christian so the bible aspect of what he is saying/doing make so much sense to me but think that even a non believer could benefit from some of what he talks about.

I dont think anyone in Oklahoma can go without watering like he does. I know in late summer we have to water but not near as much as we did before.

I saw that video about a month ago and thought it was very interesting. If I had some land I would definitely try to set out an area of wood chips and try planting in it in 2-3 years. It also did make me think about how much I should mulch my raised beds. I can only fit a couple inches now so I'm considering raising the edges a bit.

I agree with Mike about watering. That guy is in the PNW so he doesn't get the hot, dry summers we get. Regardless we will have to water here but anything that helps reduce how much I water, I'm willing to try.

I have watched the film many times, and like Mike, I think we all can learn from it and his gardening practices. I thought the Pennsylvania parts of it were a total waste since it mostly told you what NOT to do, and I hated the music and found myself muting the film until it was over. LOL

In spite of the things I thought were annoying, the information was very good and like Mike mentions above, we probably would never be so lucky as not to need to water at all, we certainly could benefit from his gardening practices. I watched it several times and recommended it to many, (but I warned them first). LOL

I found it interesting as well. I am working on restoring a section of my yard with a deep mulch of leaves.

I've seen this and think it is an awesome.

I have a small hugelkulture plot that does not require watering. it only receives rainfall. It works! The premise is the same except the ramial wood as well as larger logs is underground.
