update on trench composting.

Because I live in an area that does not drain well and had problems getting my crops in on time. I started digging ditches around my beds and garden and filling them with organic matter. This has worked very well for me, almost too well, I am to the point that I may have to start removing some of my amended soil to use elsewhere.

I will show pictures of an addition I started last year. The first picture is where I added 4' to my south garden to plant winter squash, before amending and adding organic matter to the ditch. The next picture will be after soil was amended and ditch filled with shavings. The third picture will be where I am harvesting the amended soil from the ditch, but before refilling it with organic matter. This method has all but removed my drainage problem, permits me to drive across the ditch, and supplies me with amendments for the garden.
