Grove is a nice place to live and is a great place for recreation if you enjoy what the lake provides. Housing in Grove is generally more expensive than the other small towns in the area.

I would not classify our medical care as top-notch. We do have a hospital, but my limited experience with it has not been positive, and most of my friends share that opinion.

Joplin is 40 miles from my house and is in the process of building a new hospital to replace the one destroyed in their huge tornado.

When we moved here it was almost impossible to find a rental, but I do see a few signs now. We also seem to have more properties for sale. Some of that probably has to do with the economy because the lake communities have many homes that would be classified as "second homes" or "vacation property", and many people can no longer afford to have them.

It is hard to advise anyone where to live without knowing a little more about them. Homes range from mobile homes to huge lakeside mansions. I would just caution you to make sure your property is not in an area that easily floods because there are houses that are built in low areas much too close to the water. Because we normally have adequate rainfall, it is a great place to garden, but the same things that make gardening great, make you lawn seem like it's on steroids and mowing is constant. Two families that are close friends of ours just use a lawn service so they don't have to deal with it, but we are the DIY type and ours sometimes gets ahead of us (like now).

I have a friend that has sold real estate here for many years, so I will talk to her about rentals.

You will find travel necessary to obtain adequate services that are not provisioned in Grove, me thinks. But for most of us, it is well worth it and the internet is a wonderful tool.

Soonergrandmom mentioned mobile homes. I would avoid those if at all possible. Tornadoes and mobile homes do not mix well. AT ALL.
