Heads Up! Convective Outlook--Days 4 & 5

Both Reed and I have briefly mentioned in other threads the severe weather that is possible for parts of our area this weekend. I thought I'd go ahead and link the maps that show the areas currently expected to be in the danger zone this weekend.

I've linked the SPC's Convective Outlook that shows Day 4 (Sunday) and Day 5 (Monday). While the exact areas likely to be most affected could change over the coming days, the areas highlighted for Day 4 and Day 5 on the linked map can be used by us to figure out if we are in the areas that could be impacted by severe weather. That gives us a couple of days to figure out how to protect our most precious plants from large hail if it develops with the projected severe storms.

I guess the upside is that large swaths of OK might get some more rain, and we almost always need more rain.

Yep, I'll spend Saturday preparing since we are supposed to have any rain then. I'll get it ready and then, hopefully, it'll stand up to whatever nature throws at us.

I'll try to get all my wimpy folding tomato cages out on Saturday and am going to attempt staking them down with 3 foot metal fence posts I have leftover from my last garden to help keep them from blowing over. The plants are still wee, so I'll add "hail hats" by wedging inverted pots into the tomato cage, maybe with a brick on top.

In looking at this today...there's nothing - says "Predictability too low" for the next few days.
BUT...then look at this one I'm linking - I presume they're talking about tonight and the outlook for damaging storms and large hail. We'll need to keep an eye on everything for sure.

The storms have begun popping up in western KS. Looks like today's severe weather outbreak has begun. There have been a couple of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued and this is just the beginning.
