One of the great things about berries is you just plant them, mulch them, water them when needed and then sit back and wait for the berries. And. Then. You. Fight. The. Birds. For. Every. Berry. So, you can't say you weren't warned about the birds. : ) We won't even talk about how much squirrels love berries and tree fruit.

Hoping the pine boxes hold up for a few years I used 4x4 cedar on the inside for braces. I really don't want to do that again anytime soon. Although I forgot a bed for peas onions and potatoes

I have bought 6 or so bird nets for now was going install 4 1x2s 8 feet tall one on each corner and drape the nets across. It's a double edged sword wife and youngster are painting a bird house as we speak. I'll have to put in on the other side of the yard.

I was curious about the cedar tree right next to the beds there are actually 3 but directly behind the first which is the biggest. Should I saw them down or thin them up. I though I read some when cedar can cause rust on certain plants. Wife says no to killing trees but if I chop the, andnreplacevthem with peaches pears or apple she may turn the corner.

I've had the boys out there helping me some they were in rare form this weekend so ended up only being able to have one help at a time. Sure hope they enjoy it. If I only could grow pepperoni in the garden to put on their pizzas they would be sold.

Junipers and apples both get cedar apple rust. It doesn't hurt the junipers, but causes problems with apples. Your neighbors' cedar trees could affect your apples even if you cut all yours down.
