Canning pickled onions

Does anyone have any experience canning pickled onions? I would like to give this a try with some of the small onions from yesterday's harvest. I have sliced and frozen all of the Texas Early White and half of the Texas 1015Y, and I'm planning on pickling and canning the remaining Texas 1015Ys.

I found a recipe for canning pickled pearl onions from the NCHFP, and I am wondering if I can substitute Texas 1015Ys as the pearl onions? Would it work ok, since they are sweet? Thanks in advance for any advice!
