We had that tree in our yard growing up...in fact, for years we had two of them. They were pretty trees and we kids loved climbing them, but every year they became infested with about a billion bugs that I think were box elder bugs.

If you want to grow this tree and can't find anyone locally who has seeds, you can google and find them available for purchase as seeds or as small trees. I know that Oikos usually has them available as very small tree seedlings. The western soapberry must reseed pretty easily because we mowed down dozens of little seedlings every spring when I was a kid.

I've never seen western soapberry growing here in southern OK, but I bet it would grow just fine because it tolerated our Texas clay with no problem, although the Oklahoma red clay I have now is much more dense than the Texas black clay I grew up with.
