Untreated sawdust? Oh yeah, take it. The only caveat is that you should compost or age it before incorporating it into the garden soil. If you decide to us it as mulch, you may want to sprinkle some high nitrogen fertilizer over it. Otherwise there is a possibility that you may have some nitrogen tieup as it breaks down. We cried when the people who bought the mountain of wellrotted sawdust left at an old sawmill that we had been mining for over 20 years had it all removed. (sob)

Oh, there is a second caveat. If it is black walnut sawdust, I'm not sure I would use it at all, as black walnuts produce a toxin to other plants to cut down competition around them. Oak, maple, pine or other furniture woods should be ok.

I have to agree with Dorothy. I would love to still be able to get saw dust. I still can get fresh shavings to use for mulch and I got a load of leaves yesterday, but you have to be careful with all fresh stuff, it is better to compost first.

If you have paths, you could use it there. (I just bought 30 bags of mulch in the last 10 days!)
