It is beyond cool and the only thing I can think of to improve it would be if we could see the State lines instead of just the US outline. I have two monitors so I had it running on one and the wind direction map on the Mesonet site on the other. It looked like a good match to me. I kept clicking around on the wind chart until I was very close to my location. It is a fun thing to watch.

While I was watching it the wind was flowing from the west and over the Rockies then being caught with the wind from the south/southeast and flowing north together. Many times when I lived in Aurora CO, we would laugh because the wind appeared to sweep across Denver, travel a few miles and roll back up again and there seemed to be much more wind than when I lived in Denver, although it is just a few miles. Todays wind flow chart looked exactly like that to me.

I plan to check it again tonight when the US is dark and see the difference. I suspect the wind will die down some. Fun website. Carol

Scot, look at where the winds merge, and compare it to this map. This is going to be fun to watch during a storm.

That is so cool!!!!! Right now, the "windy city" is a giant blob of stillness. I'm finding that funnier than it should be. LOL

Carol, thanks for the email pointing me here! I have my head stuck in the oven most days so am not getting to peek in here as much as I'd like.

Chandra,

It is way beyond cool and I love it too. Thank you for sharing it with us.

If we weren't weather watchers before we became gardeners, dealing with the weather here and how it affects our gardens sure has turned a lot of us into weather watchers!

Diane, You be careful putting your head in the oven. : )

I am so glad your baking venture and farmer's market gig is working out so well.

Diane, When I worked at Tinker, we would always say that whoever named Chicago the windy city had never been to OKC. LOL This map is a true graphic of 'the wind comes sweeping down the plains'.
