Very nice! Back in the 90s, up in the states of Hidalgo and Puebla, federal agents of S.A.R.H., a natural resources department, did seminars on vermiculture. Unfortunately, they failed to provide any starter cultures of worms, so there were a fair number of frustrated participants. Come 1993, my family and I arrived in Hidalgo to teach in a Bible institute. I brought a starter of red worms. An agronomist friend of mine, from Puebla, found out and offered to rent a car and drive 5 hours to pick up every worm I could spare, for use in a vermiculture project there. In the end, we saved him the expense by meeting his wife in Mexico City when we had to go there on business. Another agronomist in Hidalgo got a start from us as well. I have to say that most agronomists I've met in Mexico are quite progressive, a pleasure to work with. Sounds like the technology is continuing to evolve.

George, I thought I had some information you emailed me about your worm project in Mexico, but I can't seem to lay my hands on it. Do you still have it? I have a number of people who might be interested in such a project.. In fact, the one most interested is a missionary in Chiapas, but I have also reached out to groups in Haiti and Honduras.

P.S. My babysat worm bin survived last summer and now I have my own bin plus the bin from last summer too (the couple spends the summer on the east coast and the girls staying in their house were not excited about worms inhabiting the same space as them!)

...and now my daughter, Katie, has a bin of her own. She hopes the worms inside are still alive - she's been fairly busy and getting ready for a move from their apartment to a house (!), but...I'll pass this info along - who knows? She and Lisa may talk me into "raising" worms, too!
