Mulching peppers question

From what I have read peppers like warm soil and one site said to delay mulching them until the soil warms up. So I just wondered if you guys have waited or have already mulched them. Peppers do not like me much anyway. I get one or two bells and then they quit. I actually got my first one today. It was small but had good flavor and texture. We'll see if it keeps on producing or not. I am amending the soil as fast as I can. Maybe it will help. Sheila

I had rather not mulch till I have to, but it helps keep down weeds and reduces the need to water. I mulched early this year to try to beat the heat and to be able to work around small plants. My plants are behind but healthy. I have harvested about 10 peppers so far this year.

I have been thinking about placing black plastic over my mulch, but have never tried it. I hope to try peppers in containers next year. I have never grown any vegetable
in a container.
