My house is surrounded by 30ft. and bigger oak trees. I read once that a large oak tree can expire as much as 300 gals. a day to add to the humidity. To the west of my house(about 100ft.) is a small runoff like creek that always has water in it. I said all that to say this......the temp is 104 right now and the humidity around my house is 61%. Look it up on a temp-heat index chart and you will see what my weather station is showing me. It's feels like 145 degrees outside. REALLY

Incredibly hot. Sorry about that humidity, telow. My kids are climbing the walls. It's just too hot as their little faces turn beet red within a matter of minutes. I hope we're not getting a repeat of last year. bon

Yesterday hear index was so intense, it burned leaves of okra, cucumbers and elephant ears. Only couple leaves on each plant but they are completely crispy like hydrated.

Yes! I failed to water some new little Laura Bush petunias yesterday...they all were blooming the last I'd seen them. I went out early this morning before leaving for work and two of them are crispy-fried! I could not believe it...I watered everything very well, but then I had night before last, too....pretty crazy out there. The only "good thing" is that we're not battling wildfires like the poor people of Colorado - so heartbreaking :~( Sharon

I think this will be the end of my tomatoes. They were already looking bad and this heat is killing them. I am picking as soon as they break color so I am picking a lot right now. Everything else in the garden seems to be taking the heat OK, but the tomato plants are roasting.

I was just thinking about pulling my tomatoes as well. Everything looks bad in the afternoon, but most of it seems to be recovering in the evening. The tomatoes just look sad all the time. Leslie
