Pictures from my garden

Dawn, I was out *weeding* again today and took some pics.

lemon balm and green and purple perilla duking it out in my butterfly garden spot. (there are zinnias, dill, fennel, red salvia and a few other things in there too)

This is the fence that was so full of passionvine last year. It is regrowing, but it will not be near as gorgeous this year. But the chaste tree is putting on a small show and I have white datura, red salvia and zinnias growing in the bed.

More vitex...guarding my compost pile :)

I think I post this view point every year at this time...but it is so pretty I have to share!

Do you see why I admire people who can garden "neatly"? This is how I garden...

Hey, I like it! Great garden! Thats my kind of garden and lookie there, you got a fancy fence too except yours is a whole heck of a lot nicer than mine which is hog wire on rusty leaning posts. I love the echinacea and the Black-eyed Susan's, one of my favorite happiest looking flowers. Also love the Chaste Tree. Looks like you have quite a few herbs, you wouldn't have any Southernwood growing in there would you? I'm thinking of adding it and I want to know how big it gets? I'm hoping to find some at the Midnight Madness Sale at TLC.
These are the kinds of gardens I grew up around. Yours is very nostalgic to me.

Lisa, it is beautiful. I think that a slightly untidy garden is so much nicer than a formal one where all the flowers are rigidly where they are supposed to be. The pairings and color combinations that happen naturally are so much more pleasing. You should be very proud of your garden!

Thanks! I like it...I just admire people who can garden with restraint! Someone posted on facebook the other day that a true gardener is someone who will buy 10,000 plants over his lifetime and have "no place" planned for them. That is soooo me! I rarely have a plan.

I haven't seen too many butterflies so far, but that can be deceiving because I am gone so much of the day. I know there has been a black swallowtail or two around because I have a baby caterpillar!

These are such beautiful pictures. I cant wait till mine gets going better. I bought some pretty flower this year for the butterflies and hummers this year.

Thank you, Kim. I made the "mistake" of hanging out at the daylily forum a few years ago...suddenly I "had to have" daylilies. And then I found the antique roses forum. Oh dear. So now I try to forget that there are topic specific forums on here because my garden budget goes out the window! :)

I do specifically try to garden for butterflies. Susan from this forum has been so helpful on that.

Pictures of your garden are always so awesome. And to think my happy giant coneflower plant started there. I can't wait to get the rest going in my own unkempt way. :D
