When I planted fall broccoli, I planted in time to put them in the ground the first of September as 5 week old transplants (In the spring I allow 6 weeks, but summer sown seedlings grow faster than winter.) That means I sowed during the 3rd week of July. This is for a short dtm broccoli, like Packman.

The OSU-recommended planting dates for fall broccoli are July 15 - Aug 15, with the July 15th date being for northwestern OK and the August 15th date being for southestern OK. The rest of us, who lie somewhere between the two extremes, can choose a date within that range that makes sense to us depending on where we are in OK. To have plants ready for the recommended planting date for my area, I start broccoli seed 3 to 5 weeks before I intend to put the transplants into the ground.

I don't grow fall onions, other than the fact that I have some perennial onions, and sometimes grow a bunching onion like LIsbon, but the recommended fall planting dates for onions everywhere in OK in the fall garden is September 1st.

I have the dates to put them in the garden written down on my calender. But I have never started them from seed before. I will wait on my broccoli for a couple more weeks but I have no idea how long it takes onion seeds to grow enough to be ready to go in the garden. Wow I was tired last night. Couldnt even spell broccoli right.

Funny you brought that up I was asking myself the same thing 5 minutes ago. My Summer garden failed so badly I have to do something for fall.
I love brussels sprouts and have several packets of seeds I think I'll try them again this Fall.
Does anyone know where to buy Garlic in the OKC aera to plant in a couple months?
I've asked Attwoods to order it and after 2 years of bugging them they still don't.
