Thanks for sharing. I've considered it in the past. Just might do Malabar next year.

I grow it every now and then, but it is hard to keep the hordes of grasshoppers from devouring it here. Being rural, we always have too many grasshoppers.

I have grown both the red-stemmed Malabar spinach and the green-stemmed one. For me, the red-stemmed one was a quicker, more rampant grower than the green stemmed one. If you let the flowers go to seed and self-sow, you usually will get volunteer plants (tons of them) in the spring.

I tried it a couple of years ago and, for some reason, I couldn't get it started. I should try again, next year. Though, like Dawn, we have too many grasshoppers.
