I'm in OKC and loved the Chinese pistache tree I planted at my old house about 10 years ago (on the recommendation of the Oklahoma Gardening Guide). It does take some pruning to give it the best shape, which we did a little bit at a time over the years, just to make it pretty.

If I had a complaint, it's that the fall foliage show is very short. It seems I would watch for the colors to change, and finally one day the leaves are colorful, and it seemed like the next day they were all on the ground. It might not be quite that fast but it felt like it! I half blame all our wind and half the tree.

I have two here in OKC and they've taken all the heat and hail that has been thrown at them. They do grow fairly slow so you can't exect them to be huge overnight and the color display as mentioned is fairly quick here, but still pretty.
