I think it's a variety of fall army worm.

Sorie, How long is it? To me, it looks a little too long to be an army worm. They generally max out at about 1.5" at the most. Also, the army worms I see here aren't shiny like that--they have a matte appearance. I guess an army worm could be shiny if it was wet though.

When you look at either end of the worm, do you see a little thorn-like horn? I've had brown hornworms that look very similar to the cat in your photo, although I've never noticed they were particularly shiny either.

He's gone now. But he was about 3" long. Was slimy looking, Sorry not much help.
