Yay! It is about time. More rain would have been nice, but at least you got more than a measly one or two-tenths of an inch this time.

Yea we got an inch and 7/10ths over the weekend. I'm so excited to see the soil moist again. Ill probably have to start mowing my yard again though... I haven't had to mow since the first week of july!

And since the 1.75 inches here in Norman...the grass/weeds have SHOT up. Time to get out the mower....it's in the back of the garage...

Dorothy, I watched the cell heading for your town and I wanted to tell you that it had your name on it, but it was just far enough east of you that I wasn't sure you would get much from it. I am so glad that some of it did come your way. You have been dry for a long time.

We have a tiny storm over us again this morning, with rain falling so lightly that you can barely see it or feel it....it is almost more like fog, but it is rain: 1/10th of an inch in the rain gauge, bringing our 4-day total at our house to 3.0".

Yesterday we had a fire, and Tim said he felt like our heat index was 130 degrees when he was out there fighting it, but I plugged the RH and temp at our house into the Heat Index Calculator, and it was "only" 109. That's the downside to the rainfall Still, we'd rather have it than not have it.

I was enviously watching all that rain from Tropical Storm Isaac falling on Florida yesterday and, despite the serious flooding there, was thinking "why can't we have a foot or two of rain here?". (Not that I take a tropical storm lightly because they are very dangerous, but wouldn't that rain help us all here!) It does look like some drought-stricken states will eventually get rainfall from Isaac.

Paula, I wish my garden would grow as fast as the lawn and the weeds do. Oh well, at least when we mow, I get some clippings to use as mulch.
