Squash bee or Honey bee?

slowpoke_gardener

I have a lot of squash and pumpkins for a small garden. These are something I don't normally grow. I have also noticed that I have some kind of bee nest in a round bale of hay. These bees may be a type of bee that makes honey because when I caught two coons in two nights I had noticed that something had been digging at the bale of hay. I did not notice the inch dia. hole in the hay bale. I did notice it this morning early. Bees were coming and going like crazy, then about 10:00 it was like someone rang the quitting bell. The bees were all going back into the nest. I expect that these are some type of pollinator, but that is about as for as I can go. Will someone educate me a little? I will show a picture of where they go into the hay bale if that will help.

Thanks, Larry

Bees are flying in and out but don't show up on the "still" picture.
