Fire Weather Watch for Friday, 8/3/2012

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

The NWS has issued a Fire Weather Watch for Friday for much of western, southern, central and north-central Oklahoma.

A Fire Weather Watch means conditions exist that indicate that fires will start very easily and spread quickly.

If your county is located in the Fire Weather Watch area, you can read your county's weather forecast at the NWS website for your area to read all the details.

If you are not used to fire weather watches, consider them the equivalent of a severe thunderstorm watch. If the situation becomes more critically dangerous, a Red Flag Fire Warning could be issued. If evacuations occur in any given county, then a Fire Warning can be issued, triggering the alert on your All-Hazards Weather Radio.

I am linking this map from a different website than the NWS website, because on the NWS website, the Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Warning colors on the map keep the Fire Weather Watch for showing up visually on the map.
