Fruit Trees

Does anyone sell fruit trees in the fall? I see lots during the spring time. I'd like to plant a couple of plum trees and maybe another peach. Do I have to wait til spring to purchase?
Thanks Gene

RE: Fruit Trees

Gene, I do not usually see them here in southern OK in the fall, but there are some online retailers who sell them and ship them for fall planting. Stark Bros. is one, and I'll link their website below.

If you cannot find what you want in fall, the bare-root trees start showing up in stores in south-central OK in January and the containerized ones are in stores by late February or early March. I am not sure of the timing in parts of Oklahoma further north than where I am in southcentral OK, but I would think that it wouldn't be much later than the timing down here.

I also think some nurseries in northeastern and central OK might have them in fall most years. With this year's drought, I don't know if that will hold true.
