| this morning. Theya aren't quite ripe, but after the hoppers defoliated the tree, and the birds have strted in pecking the apples we decided to get started putting them up. I will peel, quarter, core and freeze this batch to make crisp with later. Glenn ran the hose on the tree for a half hour tonight to encourage it to put out more leaves and finish the apples. They're only about half the size they should be, but I don't think they will get any bigger. I left too many apples on the tree when I thinned them for a year as hot and dry as this. |
