| Here's this week's U. S. Drought Monitor.
You might notice there is some improvement, especially in states that received significant rainfall from Isaac. Oklahoma looks about the same except that a small percentage of the state moved from D-3, Extreme Drought, to D-4,Exceptional Drought,which isn't exactly the sort of change we were hoping for. I think Kansas looks a little worse in Jay's corner of the state, where D-4 gobbled up the little bit of D-3 that was still there. Arkansas shows some improvement. I hope this drought is not going to hang around all autumn long, but I am starting to think it might. Dawn |

| I know that Oklahoma looks bad, but Kansas looks worse. Look at Jay's part of Kansas (the extreme southwestern corner of the state), and you understand his post about 'calf rope'. Dawn |
