I built a butterfly bed on top of an old compost heap....it was a gorgeous bed!

That is just marvelous, Lisa! It's like a little oasis away from cares and worries. A haven for butterflies. You're so awesome at that!

Think the red salvia would do okay on that corner under afternoon shade? I'm thinking flowers on the corner for my viewing pleasure when I weed and stuff.

You can have both flowers and veggies together. All my so-called flower beds have veggies in them, and all my veggie beds have flowers in them. Even in containers I like to mix flowers, veggies and herbs together. That way, something always is at its peak and looking good or, at least it is that way until drought kills it all.

I'm supposed to be "practical", but the idea of flowers keeps coming to mind.

Hey, flowers are practical!! They bring all the pollinators :) I keep telling dawn, we need to live next door to each other. both of you could be on either side, I could grow all the pollinator stuff and ya'll could grow the human food!

So, butterfly weed, then?
